Congrats to the Happy Couple!! Joan and Chock are engaged!

Congrats to the happy couple Joan and Chock! The pair got engaged in Bora Bora after Joan sent Guy home after her date with Chock. Nancy popped on again this episode to give Joan a much-needed boost. What a gem. She assured Joan she was loveable despite Pascal leaving and that Joan had great men left. Quote of the Night from Joan: “No matter what life throws at you there is still hope, even at our age.”

Who got kicked off: Guy was sent home before his final date with Joan because her heart belonged to Chock.

The Final Dates:

Chock met two of Joan’s four kids – Ali and Nick – and their spouse and fiance. Nick seemed hesitant to meet the men and protective of his mom and his dad’s memory. He did open up to his mom Joan that he wanted her to know how proud him and his siblings were of their mom for being brave and going on this show and finding love and that they wanted her to be happy. Chock told Nick he wasn’t there to replace Nick’s dad, he was there to make Joan happy, to love Joan and to go on adventures with Joan. It was really sweet. At their last time together, Chock told Joan that he loved her and he gave her a keyring with a house keychain on it. Chock told Joan he wanted to get an apartment together in NYC like they had talked about and pick it out together.

Guy was getting ready for his date with Joan and Joan went to his Bora Bora hut to tell him that her heart was with Chock. It was really sad and on a rainy day too. Guy asked if there was no changing her mind. Joan said she loved him in a different way, but that her heart was with Chock.

Now What? Joan and Chock are going to get an apartment in NYC together and ABC gave Joan and Chock a trip to Disney World for them and both of their families. Joan’s children and grandchildren were in the studio audience and it was adorable. Joan’s grandkid shouted out to her that he loved her.

The Proposal: Chock proposed to Joan on the beach of Bora Bora and Joan gave Chock her final rose that was gold in honor of the first Golden Bachelorette season.

The Ring: Neil Lane does it again with this giant stunner.

The Final Golden Rose: Joan’s final rose was adorned in Gold to honor the season of The Golden Bachelorette.

The Lean:

Brutal. This is the Mesnick lean. A lot of prior heartbroken Bachelor peeps have done it – Jason Mesnick and Pilot Jake Pavelka (remember him and Vienna? Taking you waaay back) were a couple of them.

After the Final Rose:

At After the Final Rose, Joan and Guy talked and Joan said they hoped they could be friends. Then they brought out Chock. Chock and Joan are just excited to be able to start dating in public. They did a montage of their Happy Couple Weekend photos. Chock said they had about five Happy Couple Weekends, each 4 days long and that they couldn’t leave the house, so they would do crosswords and cook.

Off to Disney World! Joan and Chock’s first one-on-one date this season was to Disneyland in California. ABC gifted Chock and Joan and their families a trip to Disneyworld to make more memories there. Host Jesse gave them bride and groom Mini and Mickey Mouse ears.

Honestly, The Golden Bachelor and The Golden Bachelorette have restored my faith in love and hope. These wholesome folks have made watching so much fun.
