Hawaii, The Men Meet the Family, Single Tear Drops, Jenn’s $702 ATFR Dress Found, and Post-Show Updates

It was a weird ending. Marcus and Devin met Jenn’s family, including Jenn’s mom, aunt, brother and friend in Hawaii. Marcus was still telling everyone he was trying to get there with Jenn but wasn’t making progress. Marcus also talked to host Jesse about how he felt for Jenn but he wasn’t sure. Devin met with the family and they all liked him. Jenn’s brother had a single tear fall when Jenn told him how much he meant to her and that he was looking out for Jenn. Jenn had her final date with Devin and he gave her a necklace that the shaman in New Zealand had given him. He also did a religious ceremony with Jenn in Hawaii for their final date.

Marcus didn’t get his final date. Jenn went to Marcus’ hotel room to chat and told him they were running out of time with proposals scheduled for the next day. Marcus wasn’t budging. He had a single tear fall from his eye when they were chatting. I think he just didn’t want to be the dumper. Jenn finally let him go and told Jesse in a plot twist that she wasn’t going to let Devin propose to her, but that she was going to propose to Devin.

Jenn proposed to Devin and then Devin got down on one knee and proposed to Jenn. But we didn’t get to see the proposal at first. ABC had us cut to the live After the Final Rose, and it was terrible. Jenn met with both Marcus and Devin before we watched the proposal, and Jenn was bawling her eyes out backstage and onstage with Devin. I hope we never do that finale format again. It took away from the fact that Jenn did the proposal, which I believe was a Bachelorette first that ABC had been touting and the fact that Jenn was actually happy for a split second.

The Proposal

We didn’t get to see the proposal first. We had to watch Jenn confront Devin live on After the Final Rose before Jesse showed us the actual proposal screen-on-screen with Jenn and Devin’s reactions, which was awful. It didn’t allow us to be joyful at all with Jenn sobbing in the little corner box while their engagement played out. Please don’t do that format again ABC. The proposal was actually cute. I don’t understand why they didn’t show it first. Made me think they were hiding something. It’s not unusual for a Bachelor couple to break up. And this time we didn’t even get to see and appreciate the first time a Bachelorette proposed to her pick. Lame. Just sadness.

The Rings:

Because Jenn proposed to Devin, she also got to pick out a ring. I’m assuming it is also Neil Lane. And then Devin got down on one knee to propose to Jenn.

The Breakup

Jenn called Devin out on a lot of things. She said Devin followed Maria the day after he broke up with Jenn. He broke up with Jenn on a 15-minute phone call. And he pulled away, sometimes ghosting on text messages after they were engaged. Jenn was heartbroken. Jenn also accused Devin of going clubbing in New York right after he called things off with Jenn.

What are “Happy Couples”?

Jenn referred to “Happy Couple” a couple times. So I think a “Happy Couple” is referring to the weekend getaways that the Bachelor and Bachelorettes and their picks get in between filming and the finale airing. There is a gap between when the show stops filming (after the proposal) and when the show airs because of editing and post-production. During that in-between time, the couples cannot be seen in public because it would spoil the show, so ABC arranges “Happy Couple” weekend getaways to give the couples time together away from the public eye. (Remember when Becca Kufrin got broken up with by Arie by surprise on her “Happy Couple” getaway? This Jimmy Kimmel Interview is a good refresher. Also, Becca owes Jimmy $10. Also, remember when Hannah broke up with Jedd Wyatt at a weekend because he was in magazines pointing out his infidelity?)

Clubbing in New York

Charity Lawson posted a live Instagram of her clubbing in New York with Maria and Jeremy on Saturday of Labor Day weekend. At After the Final Rose, Jenn said Devin was also out clubbing in New York. Maria responded with a Reel that said she had never met Devin and that Devin was not out clubbing with them. She was out clubbing with Jeremy and a group of friends.

Can we just talk about and give a moment to Jenn’s After the Final Rose dress. It was incredible. US Magazine published an article with the details on Jenn’s dress and underwear. According to US Magazine, “Jenn, 26, showed off her figure in a sheer gown at the season 21 Bachelorette live finale on Tuesday, September 3. Her $554 Oséree dress featured a see-through silhouette featuring sparkly horizontal stripes. The design was complete with a glittery halter neckline. Jenn matched the piece with $155 Oséree cheeky high-waisted underwear featuring more sequins.”

Rachel has been getting a lot of face time with the franchise for some reason. She was chosen to star in a commercial promo with Bachelor and Beetlejuice and she was at the After the Final Rose taping. Something is afoot, Bachelor peeps. Saturday, September 7th at 7:10pm Jenn Tran is in Boston to throw out the first pitch of the Red Sox game at Fenway Park. Boston is doing a giveaway of Bachelorette baseball caps.

And Jenn will be on Season 33 of Dancing with the Stars.
